Festival Goodness.

I frequently find my job taking me to very interesting places with very interesting people. Somewhat ironically, I found myself at Coachella this year. I say ironically, only because at least five times I've said things like "It's so hot. There are so many people. I would only go there if I was being paid." As luck may have it, I ended up at Coachella weekend 2 with Fuse. I'm no stranger to the festival circuit, as a rag-tag little rock-n-roller in my youth I found myself in many crowded and hot fields for days at a time spending insane amounts of money on beverages and relishing in the tunes of my favorite bands. As a matter of fact, the first time I ever bought a long wear lipstick was for a 3 day festival in Illinois (it was also the first time I realized that regular make-up remover does not take off said long wear lipstick.) That being said, since many of my clients are music industry- I end up at a lot of festivals.

As much as I’ve hated on Coachella in the past (seriously, Native American headdresses, crocheted shirts and no pants- no thanks!), I found myself become more and more excited to go. Two of my best friends are long-time Coachella goers and have spun many yarns about good times had and "spicy pie" feasts. I wasn't even sure if I'd be able to go to the actual festival, since the Fuse Coach House was off-site and we were all staying in Palm Springs. Let me just say, I didn't realize how much I LOVE the desert. I want to be a fabulous Palm Springs old lady who is up at 6 am in a glamour turban walking my dogs and wearing green eyeshadow.

It's like a race to see how quickly I can destroy a hotel room.
Super dope graphic pieces all over the hotel.

The majority of the trip was spent working and hanging at the Fuse Coach House, watching over my hosts, Elaine and Esteban. Which, to be honest, those two cats are so cool and I love my client so much- it never really feels like work.

The Fuse Coach House- I can think of worse places to be.

The house was sponsored by Kind Bar, PopChips and Vita Coco.  Seriously, heaven.

This Coco Cafe was the drink of the GODS. Seriously, so freakin' delish.

Urban Decay, Murad and Enzo Milano were super kind enough to provide product, and let me tell you- I am so impressed with how well everything held up in 100+ degree heat. The Urban Decay 24/7 products and Cannonball Waterproof Mascara are legendary and truly stay on all day and the de-slick powder is a force to be reckoned with and don't even get me started on how bomb the Baked Bronzer is. I used Murad's Essential-C Day Moisture SPF 30 on myself and my host every day, it's very rare to find a combo product with sunscreen that still performs optimally, once again, very impressed. I've been using the Enzo Milano wand irons for months now and they just make such easy work of loose waves.

On Saturday night, my friend Jenn drove up and we took advantage of the sweet hotel room and went out to karaoke at the Crazy Coconut in Palm Springs. The Bar was mostly full of young Marines and bachelorette parties- no correlation there, I'm sure. But we were determined to bring the fun, and totally did. Whenever I'm drinking or the vibe is really good, I pretty much only want to rap at karaoke- so there was a lot of Ludacris, Salt-n-Pepa and Nick Minaj. I was offered a "record deal" on two separate accounts that night both a Marine and a dude that I'm pretty sure was a drug dealer who rolled into the bar drinking a glass of chardonnay.

I have a mantra, if you always take a silly picture- you can never take a bad one.

Marines in sunglasses and tourist shirts.

The best morning we headed over to Bit-O-County for some breakfast where my eyes proceeded to be about ten times bigger than my stomach and I thought I could finish three hotcakes that were about the size of a frisbee. Jenn ordered her breakfast in what seemed like a tapas fashion and seriously had one of everything on the breakfast sides menu. After that we headed back to the Fuse house for the final day of Coachella and the final day of shooting. After we were done shooting, we got to enjoy the pool and barbecue. As luck would have it, my friend Carrie was able to hook Jenn and I up with passes- so we actually ended up going to Coachella for the last night. I was really excited because I love me some Dre and Snoop. I also got a chance to see Justice, GirlTalk, Florence and the Machine and At The Drive-In. All amazing performances and definitely worth the two days of smoke related athsma attacks from all of the weed smoke that engulfed the entire venue.

All in all- it was a pretty great weekend. I feel so fortunate to have the best job in the world and great friends to spend good times with.
